Microfilm copies of two letterbooks containing transcriptions of outgoing letters by the Secretary of War and other officials of the War Department, distinguished from other volumes of letters sent by the fact that most of these are marked "confidential," "unofficial," or "private." Introductory narratives filmed at the beginning of each roll provide additional details about these volumes.
