HISTORICAL NOTE
The Diocesan offices over the years took custody of the parish registers of closed parishes, and of other minute and account books no longer used by various churches, and incorporated them into the official diocesan records.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS
Parish registers typically include records of baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and burials. Many also contain notes on parish history. Some parish registers contain information on more than one parish.

The diary entries (30 pages) were made while Welles was pursuing theological studies at Hobart College, Geneva, N.Y. Included are a description of a trip up the Mississippi River from New Orleans to St. Louis, thence to Geneva by way of Detroit and Buffalo; Welles' daily schedule of studies; a description of a lecture series sponsored by the Young Men's Association of Waterloo, N.Y., Welles' home; and answers to a series of questions from the divinity examination (1835) of Dublin University, written as a review exercise. | |||||||||||||
