HISTORICAL NOTE
The Minnesota Council for Coordinating Education in Agriculture was formed in the early 1970s. In the early 1990s, the MCCEA had a major role in the organization of the Minnesota Education in Agriculture Leadership Council (MEALC) which had been authorized by the Legislature in 1990. The MEALC folded in 1996, but in 1997, the Legislature created the Minnesota Agricultural Education Leadership Council (MAELC). The MEALC and MAELC had many of the same goals as the MCCEA.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS
The records include annual meeting programs, "Breakfast with Our Legislators" programs, the constitution, correspondence, an "Education for Agriculture in MN" report, a legislative position paper, meeting minutes, member lists and mailing lists, and summer conference programs. Included in the meeting minutes is information on the MCCEA's role in the formation of the Minnesota Education in Agriculture Leadership Council (MEALC).
MCCEA members represented agencies and institutions such as the State Department of Education, the University of Minnesota, the State College system, the State Community College system, the Higher Education Coordinating Commission, and other private and public organizations.
