SCOPE AND CONTENTS
The bulk of the files are transcripts of daily tapes that Berman made forming a chronology of Humphrey's campaign between March 31 and November 7, 1968 (transcripts for August 1968 are not included; see related materials note below). The files also include transcripts of interviews with campaign advisors analyzing Humphrey's campaign, pre-convention assessments of the campaign by state, and Berman's correspondence, memorabilia, and newspaper clippings, primarily from 1965 to 1968.
Materials from the 1970s include correspondence and publicity information relating to the publication of Berman's book Hubert: The Triumph and Tragedy of the Humphrey I Knew (G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1979), book reviews, and photographs of Humphrey, some of which appear in Hubert. There is some information regarding Humphrey's potential candidacy for the 1972 presidential election, and a few items regarding various organizations honoring Humphrey in the years following his death in 1978.
