Expand/CollapseBIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Marvin Krinke was born in 1906 and began his career at Eastman Kodak as an errand boy in 1922. During World War II he enlisted in the army as a technical corporeal and was a United States Army photographer in the 713th Railway Division of the Seventh Army.

He began his service in North Africa before being sent to Italy. During the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, he happened to be in Naples and captured the event on film. He was also able to document on film the damage the Germans incurred on the railway stations as they retreated. He also served in the South of France and was stationed at Marseilles before returning to the United States.

After the war he returned to his job as a salesman for Eastman Kodak Stores selling photographic material and equipment in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1967, after 45 years with Kodak, he retired. Krinke passed away in 2002.
