Abstract:Images in this collection depict various scenes in and around the White Earth Indian Reservation and Rat Lake, Minnesota. Views include buildings such as schools, the Catholic and Episcopal churches, stores, the hospital, and Agency buildings. Activities shown include logging, sugaring, and the June 14th Reservation Day celebration. Scenes of individuals and groups show scenes of White Earth pioneers, the police force, church congregations, order of Sisters, and members of the Ojibwe Nation. The Rat Lake views feature Sprofka's mill. Some of the photographs in this collection were used in Charles Vandersluis' book, "Mainly Logging." Duplicate copies of all prints are cataloged separately in the Photo and Art Database.
