Expand/CollapseSCOPE AND CONTENTS

Items in this collection represent just a very small sampling of photographs from the Minneapolis Times, Minneapolis Tribune, and the Minneapolis Journal. They primarily date from 1915-1949, but some images fall outside that range. These images were transferred to the Minneapolis Public Library in 1970 and then acquired by the Minnesota Historical Society throughout the 2000s.

Box 1 contains various topical groupings of photographs.

Box 2 contains alphabetically arranged files of people, places, and organizations that are statewide in representation, and include photographs and the occasional newspaper article. Only that part of the alphabet from A-J is included within this collection.

The photographs are lower quality having been printed quickly for the press. Some unique images are also included if they were provided to the newspaper for a specific story and the occasional image printing plate can be found.
