Abstract:Schluter worked for the Minneapolis Star and Tribune Company from 1968-1987 and many of these photographs may be related to work he did on news stories for the paper. Views include amateur boxing, Camp Ihduhapi, amusement rides at Como Park, St. Paul, a children's barber at Southdale shopping center, corporate art in the Twin Cities, various musicians (including Willie Murphy and the Bees and the Hall Brothers Jazz Band), anti-Vietnam protests, migrant workers in the Red River Valley, Leech Lake International Dog Sled Race, dress code protest at Susan B. Anthony School, Minneapolis.

Steven Schluter started as a copy aide for the Minneapolis Tribune in 1968 and moved to their photo lab in 1971. He became a staff photographer in 1973, working part time for the newspaper while attending the University of Minnesota journalism school where he also worked as a photographer for the Minnesota Daily. He was named Young Photographer of the Year by the Photographic Society of America in 1974.
