BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE
Benjamin Edwards Mchie was born to Beneta Edwards Mchie and John Mchie, Sr. on September 5, 1948 in Minneapolis. Mchie graduated from Minneapolis Central High School and went on to receive a bachelor's degree in speech communication from California State University, Long Beach. Over the course of his media career he was a radio announcer for many stations, including KQRS, and an independent camera operator for local television stations, ESPN, and others. In addition to his work as an announcer, he has been active in fighting for racial justice as well as in directing and producing. Mchie is the founder of the African American Registry, an online database resource of worldwide African American heritage for teaching and learning.
