Abstract:Photographs belonging to Ann (Dobias) Montgomery of Redwood County. Series of images documents her time at the Warren Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1913 and continued working until 1918, including views of the hospital, staff, and students. Second series of images documents her time with the American Expeditionary Forces as a nurse during World War I serving in Camp Pike, Arkansas and France with views of work, travels, and friends.

Ann Emily (Dobias) Montgomery was born 1891 in Westline Township of Redwood County to Joseph and Mary Dobias. She attended Warren Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated with honors in May 1913. Montgomery worked in the local hospital until January 1918 when she enlisted during World War I with the American Expeditionary Forces. She was stationed at Camp Pike in Arkansas and then sent overseas to France. In November 1919, Montgomery returned to the United States and was honorably discharged. She married Lieutenant Mancie Montgomery in Detroit, Michigan on November 27, 1920. Two years later, she died from appendicitis on September 28, 1922.
