For as much guff as BMW gets about apparently losing its way with iXs, X7s and the like, the M2 shows it can still produce a top-notch driver's car. BMW offers a wide range of models, from compact sedans to high-performance sports cars. The BMW M series, in particular, is a favorite among car enthusiasts, with models like the M3 and M5 boasting impressive speed and agility.
On the other hand, the Toyota Supra is a sports car that has been in production since 1978. The BMW Z4 and the Toyota Supra might be close relatives, but which one is faster on track? To find out, we took the latest, manual-equipped Z4 M40i to our official test track, the Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park. Though the engines, chassis and transmissions of these two cars are nearly identical, in a real world shoot out of zero to 60 mph times, the Supra was actually a second faster at 4.4 seconds than the BMW at 4.5 seconds.
The Toyota Supra starts at a slightly lower price point than the BMW Z4. The base Supra comes in at around $44,000, while the Z4's starting price is closer to $50,000. Down by more than 50 hp than the BMW M3 Comp, its traction and light weight helped it win with ease on the quarter mile, but interestingly, this older 2018 BMW proved faster than the 2022 M3.
