My standard floor jack is too short (even with ~5 inches of connected wooden blocks) to lift the rear tires off of the ground when jacking from the frame. Always be careful, and if lifting a significant amount, I prefer to lift each side a little at a time, setting the jack stands as you go. The reason I want to clarify the first location for front jacking point (apart for general education) is the second point, on the frame, is very high and the jack becomes too extended to my liking, potentially more unsafe vs if it would be less extended. Toyotas have a hidden Center Jack Point (Tacoma, 4runner, FJ, Land Cruiser, Tundra) JDesigns 830 subscribers Subscribe. Unfortunately I don't think a standard jack would do the job using the underneath jack points, but I did buy a 60" hi-lift jack. Not realizing about the jacking points (or lack there of) on stock FJ bumpers.
I've got a 2011 FJ 4x4 and time will be coming soon to swap wheels. Are there jacking points by which you can lift the entire front or rear end of the vehicle to be able to swap two wheels at a time? If not, what are the best points to jack up each wheel? I'm thinking floor jack, not the jack. _EliteAssFace_ Jack Stand points? Anyone know where I would put the jack stands, when jacking up the front.
The saddle doesn't seem wide enough for the frame, so is there another spot, or should I buy wider saddle stands, if those even exist. Any thoughts on why Toyota recommends lifting the vehicle by the frame on the front end, while using the axle for the rear? When using a floor jack, it seems to me like you would have more stability and spread the weight of the jacking point better on the frame than on the smaller footprint of.
