PDF Viewer

OfficeSuite's PDF Viewer provides comprehensive PDF conversion and viewing features built in. It provides options for PDF markup and annotation, as well as the ability to convert PDFs to editable formats like Word and Excel.

You are also able to edit fillable PDF forms, including text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, and more. Saving a fillable PDF form will also save any information you have entered (in OfficeSuite Premium).

The Contextual menu provides additional options for the PDF Viewer:

Save – Saves any changes you have made to the document.
Save As – Saves any changes you have made to the document, but gives you the option to change the file type or name of the file.
Export to PDF – Export the file to PDF.
Print – Print the document, options include:
  • Printer – Select which printer to use.
  • Copies – How many copies to make.
  • Range – Select which parts of the document to print.
Protect – Set a user-generated password. Please note that document passwords are not recoverable. To remove a document password, simply select the Protect option again.
Share – Allows you to share the document. The options include to Email it, Zip & Email it, as well as to Open it in Another App.
Help – Opens this help documentation.
About – Displays the app version number, useful links, and the third party libraries used in OfficeSuite. From here you can also apply to become an OfficeSuite Beta tester.

While editing, you can tap on the Undo/Redo icon to retract the latest change you have made. Holding down on this icon will reveal the Redo option, where you can reapply changes.

The Contents icon will display the Table of Contents of the PDF file (if available), alongside a summary of any annotations present in the document.

OfficeSuite's PDF Viewer provides a tabbed interface with options similar to those found on desktop PC's. The tabs in the PDF Viewer are Home, Review, and Sign. Additional Note, Highlight, Underline, Strikethrough and Line, Rectangle, Ellipse tabs will appear once you have used the corresponding tool in the Review tab.

Home

The Home tab is where you'll find tools for searching text and adjusting zoom levels, as well as converting to editable file formats.

Go to Page – Goes to the selected page in the PDF.
Find – Will search for instances of text entered in the Search field. Browsing between search results is done with the Back and Forth arrows. The Gear icon provides options to:
  • Match Case such as capitalized or all lowercase letters.
  • Match Whole Words will filter out results that have the searched text as a part of a larger word.
View Mode – Toggles between single page (scrollable horizontally), continuous (scrollable vertically), and reflow view modes. Can also toggle Night Mode, which displays light text on a dark background for easier viewing at night.
Zoom – Provides a list of predefined values to which to zoom the view.
Convert to Word – Exports the PDF as a .DOC file to the folder you specify.
Convert to Excel – Exports the PDF as an .XLS file to the folder you specify.
Convert to ePub – Exports the PDF an .EPUB file to the folder you specify.

Review

The Review tab houses annotation tools for adding markup to your PDF files.

Paste – Pastes a previously copied element.
Note – Add notes to pages of a PDF file. Notes are identified by the Note icon and can be moved with a tap-and-hold gesture. Notes can be customized under the Note tab, which appears once you have added a note.
Free Text – Adds free text anywhere on your PDF document. Free Text font size and style can be customized under the Free Text tab, which appears once you add free text.
Highlight – Adds highlighting to text within a PDF. Highlight options are provided under the Highlight tab, which appears after you have highlighted text.
Underline – Can be used to underline text within a PDF. Underline options are part of the Underline tab, which appears after you have underlined text.
Strikethrough – Adds a strikethrough effect to text within the PDF. Strikethrough customizations appear as part of the Strikethrough tab, which appears once you mark text for strikethrough.
Free Draw – Adds a custom shape anywhere on your PDF document. Line color, thickness, and opacity can be customized from the Free Draw tab.
Line – The Line tool is used to add line indicators to a PDF, with customizable color, thickness, opacity, and line endings from the Line tab.
Rectangle – Used to overlay a rectangle onto PDF documents. Rectangle color, thickness, and opacity can be customized from the Rectangle tab.
Ellipse – The Ellipse tool is used to overlay ellipses and circles into your PDF. You can adjust color, thickness, and opacity from the Ellipse tab.

Sign

The Sign tab allows you to add a virtual signature, as well as add date, free text, and free draw annotations. Each contains a variety of additional options such as color and thickness that let you modify the color and size of the markups even after you have placed them.

Note that the markups in the Sign tab are not equivalent to certifiable digital signatures and timestamps.

Quick Sign – The Quick Sign tool is used to add virtual signatures to a PDF. Simply select Add Signature from the resulting window, create your signature, and place it in the PDF.
Date – Lets you add the date as floating text on top of the PDF file.
Free Text – Add free that rests on top of the PDF file.
Free Draw – Lets you draw custom line figures, which can appear over text and other document elements. Free draw pens can be customized from the Free Draw tab that appears when using the tool.

Annotation Tabs: Note, Free Text, Highlight, Underline, Strikethrough

Annotations selected from the Review tab bring up their own respective tabs, which each provide similar options. The Free Text annotation allows you to also specify a font size ans style:

Add Comment – Allows you to attach a comment to the specific annotation.
Text – Lets you modify the contents a note, as well as add notes to the other annotation types that can be accessed from the Text field.
Color – Lets you modify the color of the annotation.
Delete – Removes the annotation from the PDF.

Shape Tabs: Free Draw, Line, Rectangle, Ellipse

Shapes selected from the Review tab bring up their own respective tabs, which each provide similar options:

Text – Lets you modify the contents a note, as well as add notes to the other annotation types, accessible from the Text field.
Color – Lets you modify the color of the annotation.
Opacity – Allows you to set transparency for the shape color.
Thickness – Specifies the shape thickness.
Line Endings – (For Line tool) adds arrow and shape effects to the beginning and endpoints of the line.
Delete – Removes the annotation from the PDF.
