Diy Midi Decoder. In this series of posts, i will present my take on the diy midi controller, which has 4 faders, 4 rotary encoders, and a 4×4 key matrix, all. In the end, we want a midi signal each time a key is pressed (note on) and depressed (note off).

In this series of posts, i will present my take on the diy midi controller, which has 4 faders, 4 rotary encoders, and a 4×4 key matrix, all. Here is an example of using an arduino nano as the decoder for an old, discarded music keyboard and getting it to generate midi note messages. Having had a first play with my new raspberry pi pico, i thought the next step was to make a simple midi controller with some io.

Both the stamp and pic provide an economical (under us$100) entry point into the world of alternative midi controllers. By building my own arduino midi controller, my intention was to make an enjoyable project, keeping the noise at the lowest. In the end, we want a midi signal each time a key is pressed (note on) and depressed (note off). So i thought i'd get a simple music keyboard up and running.
