Polyester Shower Curtain Reddit

My shower curtains were purchased in the 90s. Still good. They are polyester (I think) as two separate curtains.

I wash them with my white laundry every couple of months. A single color internal curtain and an outer curtain with a design on it. The outer design has faded a lot over the 25+ years but I have not found anything better to replace.

The non-vinyl plastic shower curtains (not the same thing as a shower "liner", which go between the water and the fabric curtain) last a long time with a little care. What can I use instead of plastic shower curtains? I live on a sailboat and I don't want any micro plastics making their way into the ocean from my shower drain Also, I constantly need to get new ones since the polyester plastic ones still get mildew after awhile and I hate throwing them out knowing they will just sit in a landfill forever. Are the ~$100 hemp shower curtains worth it.

No need to have a curtain and a liner. I use just a shower curtain made of a water resistant polyester fabric. These type of shower curtains come in lots of different designs.

Works like a liner but looks like a shower curtain. They wash beautifully and get hung right back in the shower. I think it gives a very airy feel to the shower.

I did a bit of research on this for the shower curtain I sewed for my sister, and 100% polyester fabric seemed like the way to go based on consensus online, I imagine you can purchase pre. Shower curtains here are either what would be just the liner for you or a thicker polyester woven fabric. The thicker ones last for years if you properly care for them.

I have tried polyester, 100% cotton ones fabric, cheap plastic ones now thinking of trying an EVA one from Quiet Town. Before I pull the trigger on a $42 vinyl one from Quiet Town, I come here for suggestions on your favorite, heavy duty shower curtains that don't off-gas nasty smells and aren't *too toxic*. To get ahead of any comments.

The bottom of shower curtains tend not to dry very well and can get really grungy, but many people don't think to clean them. Just throw your shower curtain in the washing machine and hang it back up to dry. As the long title states, my shower liner gets moldy in no time, I air dry it, wash it with towels and it basically just sucks.
