The Granite School District's GATE program begins in kindergarten and continues through eighth grade. It is designed to identify and serve students who demonstrate advanced academic abilities or exhibit high potential for growth in intellectual, creative, or leadership domains.

The identification process involves a comprehensive evaluation that includes academic aptitude testing, achievement testing, teacher recommendations, student work samples, and parent input. Elements of Giftedness

GATE identifies students who exhibit exceptional abilities in various areas, including general intellectual ability, specific academic aptitude, creative or productive thinking, specific ability in visual, performing, or literary arts, leadership ability, and the ability to recognize and solve problems effectively.
