The screen can go over the fireplace, but it rolls up out of the way making it barely noticeable when not in use, it doesn't melt from the heat of the fire, and the expensive part is the projector anyway, so even if the screen is slightly damaged, it's not a big deal. Wall-mounting is my preferred way to install a TV, and that's true for a lot of people. The only problem is that some people tend to mount their TVs too high.
