Terry Miles is an award-winning filmmaker; creator of the Public Radio Alliance and that network's series of hit podcasts: Tanis, Rabbits (#1 on Apple Podcasts), Faerie, and The Last Movie; and co. Rabbits by Terry Miles is a complex mind. The creator of the absorbing podcast Rabbits expands its mythology about an ancient and potentially deadly game.
TL;DR My personal review: 5 out of 5 stars. Recommended if: You enjoy reality-bending meta horror like House of Leaves, or books about puzzles, gaming, and 80s/90s nostalgia like Ready Player One Skip it if: You don't enjoy books like House of Leaves or Ready Player One, you prefer a simple, straightforward narrative, or you have a low threshhold for tragedy/creep factor. I can't remember if I've mentioned this on the blog before, but one of the first fiction podcasts I listened to was Rabbits.
And I enjoyed Rabbits so much that I ended up listening to everything by Pacific Northwest Stories (PNWS) - Tanis, The Black Tapes, The Last Movie, and Faerie. So you can probably Book Review: Rabbits by Terry Miles. Rabbits can be fun, made more so by the small but odd reality shifts.
But as with the game of Rabbits itself, you have to be willing to lose yourself in its world to obtain its full effect. A deadly underground game might just be altering reality itself in this all.
Conspiracy theories, reality-altering cosmic powers, and pop-culture references abound in Rabbits, the debut novel from Terry Miles. The book is a spinoff of Mile's own Rabbits podcast, there are so many layers within and without the book that can be explored. A casual reader may find themselves a little confused by proceeding as there is a lot of concepts to absorb, and they come from different genres.
