This frame off custom BMW R100 began as a 1978 BMW R80/7 and was designed to maintain the classic styling of pre-war BMW racing motorcycles while having the performance and handling of a more modern machine.

To achieve this, the engine has milled heads, higher compression and dual plugging; giving it a bit more power and torque with reliability. This 1978 BMW R100RS is one of 200 Motorsport Edition models produced and was acquired by the seller in 1995, reportedly from its second owner. It was photographed for use in Bell Stermer's book, BMW R100RS, a copy of which is included in the sale, and has primarily remained in storage for the last 29 years.
