BMW M Motorsport is staying the course in Hypercar racing, confirming its long-term commitment to both FIA WEC and IMSA, but will part ways with Team RLL at the end of the 2025 season BMW is in it for the long haul. The German marque has reaffirmed its commitment to top-level prototype racing, pledging continued involvement in the Hypercar category across both the FIA World Endurance. After recent Balance of Power (BoP) adjustments made BMW a winner, BMW has announced that it will continue to contest the FIA World Endurance Championship's and IMSA's Hypercar category for the foreseeable future.

BMW M Motorsport cannot afford another season like 2025. After World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship campaigns that promised much and delivered very little, 2026 feels like a decisive one. A manufacturer of BMW's calibre cannot linger in the midfield indefinitely, and the fourth season of the M Hybrid V8 has to be the one that finally clicks.

Over the course of BMW M Team WRT's first season in the FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar category, the BMW M Hybrid V8 steadily improved, quickly going from newcomer to serious competition for the podium. This first year laid the foundation for an ambitious future in the top endurance class.
