Duck walk training in beauty pageants refers to a specific exercise aimed at improving posture, balance, and leg strength, which are crucial for contestants during runway walks. The "duck walk" involves squatting down with the knees bent and walking forward while maintaining that low squat position. This exercise strengthens the thighs, core, and glutes, which helps in maintaining graceful.

This is called a duck walk, meant to work on the models' posture, balance, hip sway, straight knees, fluidity when catwalking and landing (subtle head movements when catwalking). It is a very intense exercise with great results. Some 200 hopefuls a year take part in the training at Flores' studio, which include gym workouts, make-up lessons, and duck walk drills.

There are also formal classes where the students take part in mock pageant situations, learning to deliver concise responses to tricky questions on world peace and equality usually asked of contestants.
