Planning and Permits
The initial phase of any successful sidewalk installation is meticulous planning. You must first determine the exact path of the walkway, considering drainage patterns and accessibility requirements. Site Preparation and Layout
Once you have your plan and permit, the physical work begins with clearing the area. Remove all grass, topsoil, and debris to expose the native soil, creating a stable base. Using stakes and a string line, carefully mark the exact boundaries and ensure the layout is perfectly straight or follows your chosen curve with consistent width.

Excavation and Base Preparation
Dig the trench along the marked lines to a depth of approximately 6 to 8 inches, accounting for the thickness of the concrete slab and a layer of compactable gravel.
