00:12.920 --> 00:18.640 To begin, let's first do a little cleanup work in our Layers panel. 00:18.640 --> 00:26.440 Let's select the title bar, the textures, and the text above, holding Shift and clicking 00:26.520 --> 00:30.480 building the future skyline, so we have all five highlighted. 00:30.480 --> 00:39.520 And next, let's move them all and group them into one folder that will title title bar. 00:39.520 --> 00:45.040 As we can see, we now have a little more room in our Layers panel to work. 00:45.040 --> 00:54.040 Let's create one more group now and we'll title this logo and we'll drag the high-resolution 00:54.040 --> 00:57.320 logo into this folder. 00:57.320 --> 01:02.880 We'll be adding one more layer here so it's important to have it grouped off. 01:02.880 --> 01:08.680 Looking at our image, or going to want to create is a logo in the bottom right hand corner 01:08.680 --> 01:15.200 of the screen with the company title strategy skyline below it in text. 01:15.200 --> 01:20.000 So first, let's set a guide for where we want our logo to be. 01:20.000 --> 01:25.120 The company has requested that the logo be in the bottom inch of our postcard. 01:25.120 --> 01:35.080 Therefore, at 4.25 inches tall, we're going to want to create a guide at 3.25 inches 01:35.080 --> 01:37.160 and we'll release it there. 01:37.160 --> 01:42.080 Therefore our logo will need to be contained within this bottom inch. 01:42.080 --> 01:47.440 In addition, I would like to set a guide an eighth of an inch up just to give ourselves 01:47.440 --> 01:50.120 extra space to work with. 01:50.120 --> 01:55.680 And let's set another one an eighth of an inch to the right from the border so that our 01:55.680 --> 01:58.680 logo is not touching the edges. 01:58.680 --> 02:07.680 From here, let's set one more guide exactly one inch from the right hand side at 5 inches. 02:07.680 --> 02:12.680 And here we'll have the space that we want our logo to be. 02:12.680 --> 02:14.680 Let's now begin adjusting our logo. 02:15.400 --> 02:22.720 We'll highlight it in our layers panel and we'll simply drag it up. 02:22.720 --> 02:25.960 And next we want to be just a little bit bigger. 02:25.960 --> 02:33.240 We'll click on it, hit Ctrl T to transform it and we can drag it out. 02:33.240 --> 02:37.920 However, we probably don't need it to take up this entire space. 02:37.920 --> 02:40.920 Let's zoom in. 02:40.920 --> 02:50.080 I'll simply drag in from the sides and hold Alt so it's centered and we'll leave it 02:50.080 --> 02:52.600 about that size. 02:52.600 --> 02:56.880 While it's not important the exact size of it, we do want it to be contained within 02:56.880 --> 03:00.720 this one inch and not touching the edges. 03:00.720 --> 03:05.000 So we'll hit Enter and work with this size for now. 03:05.000 --> 03:11.200 Next, let's add the company name below strategy skyline. 03:11.200 --> 03:24.080 Within logo, we'll add a new layer and we'll title this strategy skyline title. 03:24.080 --> 03:30.680 We'll then go to our horizontal type tool and let's create a bounding box within these 03:30.680 --> 03:31.680 guides. 03:31.680 --> 03:34.680 We'll drag it. 03:34.680 --> 03:39.280 So let's drag it up a little bit and as we can see our font is currently too big. 03:39.280 --> 03:45.880 We'll adjust this to 12 points in our options bar and hit Enter. 03:45.880 --> 03:52.720 And let's type in strategy skyline. 03:52.720 --> 03:58.520 As we can see the font is still low too big so we'll click it Ctrl A on the keyboard 03:58.520 --> 04:01.280 to select it all. 04:01.280 --> 04:10.000 And let's bring it down to 8 point font and let's see what we're working with. 04:10.000 --> 04:14.880 It's starting to be a bit better of a size, however it T, and let's just shrink it down a little bit. 05:24.560 --> 05:28.400 In addition, we'll center it with strategy skyline. 05:28.400 --> 05:34.760 As we can see here, as we drag it over, we'll see pink lines indicating that it's lined 05:34.760 --> 05:43.480 up evenly with strategy skyline and we'll release it and check our work. 05:43.480 --> 05:46.320 This looks pretty good. 05:46.320 --> 05:50.640 As evidenced by many of the videos in this course, creating marketing materials often 05:50.640 --> 05:56.520 requires a lot of minor changes and going back and making adjustments, therefore continuing 05:56.520 --> 06:02.160 to adjust the size of our logo and our text is a common practice of Photoshop. 06:02.160 --> 06:06.040 Don't be discouraged if you don't get it right on the first try, Photoshop's all about 06:06.040 --> 06:08.600 adjusting and making tweaks. 06:08.600 --> 06:14.520 For our next task, I'd like to again revisit our Austin background and because we have 06:14.520 --> 06:19.520 a yellow bike lane coming down the edge here, I'd like for that bike lane to run right 06:19.520 --> 06:21.920 into the logo. 06:21.920 --> 06:28.880 We could do this by adjusting our logo and dragging both of these over, we'll hit Ctrl 06:28.880 --> 06:33.760 T and we'll simply edge them over with the keypad. 06:33.760 --> 06:39.240 However, if we zoom in, we'll see that we're starting to run out of room here if we want 06:39.240 --> 06:42.000 it contained within these guides. 06:42.000 --> 06:47.480 Therefore, let's leave it right there to the left and we'll simply move it down with 06:47.480 --> 06:49.680 the arrow keys. 06:49.680 --> 06:53.360 We're going to leave it there as that's the most space we can work with. 06:53.360 --> 06:57.600 Next, we'll need to adjust our Austin background. 06:57.600 --> 07:06.120 Let's zoom out again and with Austin background highlighted, let's hit Ctrl T to transform it 07:06.120 --> 07:11.080 and let's drag it up, making sure that we still have some space between the top of the 07:11.080 --> 07:14.000 building and our title bar. 07:15.000 --> 07:22.240 However, we can drag it up slightly so that the bike lane runs into the top of our logo 07:22.240 --> 07:28.600 and so that the circle here is still relatively centered within our postcard. 07:28.600 --> 07:33.880 I'll hit Enter to solidify this change and here we go. S to save our work and let's make one final change to this image. 07:48.080 --> 07:53.640 I want the bike lane to run straight into the logo here, however then once it enters 07:53.640 --> 07:57.880 the logo, I want to remove it. 07:57.880 --> 08:01.160 We can do this with a clone stamp tool. 08:01.160 --> 08:06.880 We'll go over to our tools bar and we'll select the clone stamp tool, holding Pattern 08:06.920 --> 08:11.480 Stamp Tool and selecting Clone Stamp Tool. 08:11.480 --> 08:18.000 So with Austin background selected and with Altheld, we'll select the area on our image. 08:18.000 --> 08:24.680 However, we see that we still can't drag over the bike lane because we have the void 08:24.680 --> 08:30.400 sign for our cursor so we'll click and see what the issue is. 08:30.400 --> 08:35.640 In this case, the smart object must be rasterized before proceeding. 08:35.680 --> 08:40.480 So by clicking OK, we can now edit this change. 08:40.480 --> 08:47.320 Let's zoom in and all we want to do is remove this part of our bike lane. 08:47.320 --> 08:54.000 We'll hit Alt to select the pixels we'll drop from and we'll simply start drawing over 08:54.000 --> 08:56.920 the bike lane. 08:56.920 --> 09:04.920 We'll hit Alt again and we'll start making these changes. 09:06.520 --> 09:18.760 As remembered with the clone stamp, it's a lot of hitting Alt and clicking but it gives 09:18.760 --> 09:26.080 us a better look for our image and helps it to be consistent. 09:26.080 --> 09:30.480 Let's scroll over to the right a little bit and we can see that here the bike lane runs
