Nature House Architectural Trend

Before we dive into the exciting projects we're currently developing at Ceres, let's first introduce the Naturhus , or "Nature House," a design concept that represents the pinnacle of greenhouse- home integration—offering the unique opportunity for people to live within a greenhouse. What is a Nature House?

Yep, essentially a house within a greenhouse. The greenhouse area wraps around the home , providing natural light, warmth and fresh air to the interior living spaces, just like a traditional greenhouse does for plants. The concept of a naturhus originates from Sweden's philosophy of merging nature and architecture.
Key Details About The Naturhus Concept Home
We have been commissioned to research and develop the Naturhus concept : building homes alongside food growing within a large greenhouse. It is a fascinating idea begun in Sweden in the 1970's and can deliver very low operational carbon, self-build benefits and regenerative water recycling, as well as the pleaure of living very closely with plants.
The origins of the concept—known as a naturhus—can be traced back to Swedish architect Bengt Warne, who, half a century ago, proposed a model of biodynamic living in which residents and the home itself are part of a self-sustaining ecosystem.

The greenhouse allows for a closed local cycle of plants that absorb the nutrients in the wastewater and turn it into fruits and vegetables.

Overview of The Naturhus Concept Home
His plan for this house was to create a home that takes care of the residents and at the same time, the surrounding nature. By building a protective greenhouse around his home and integrating cleverly engineered solutions for heat transfer and waste management he is able to design a eco-friendly house.
A Naturhus is more than a residence; it functions as a metabolic organism. By enclosing the living space within a glass envelope, residents create a controlled environment where the concept of waste is fundamentally redesigned. The architecture relies on nutrient cycling to bridge the gap between human consumption and botanical production.
