What Color Are Mario's Eyes

A lot of Nintendo's characters have varying eye colours. Link, Mario and Luigi have gone through a variety of eye colours ranging from black to blue. I don't really see blue in Kirby's eyes, they're more black than anything, I think Samus is the only character that has blue eyes constantly.

Probably got the idea from that first version of the Super Mario Land manual artwork, which seems to use a dark green for outlining rather than black (and doesn't use a separate color for eye color, just the same green-black.).

I can't begin to guess why, but it's boring to me. They even all have the same shade of blue eyes. I think Daisy would look cute with hazel eyes, and Luigi's eyes could even be a darker shade of blue like his overalls.

Other simply colored, such as the hat, overalls, hair, and skin color also appear to have color values rather than use color information from a texture. Mario also does not have sophisticated eye movement. Eye movement is replicated through additional textures of eyes looking up, down, left, and right. Additionally, both eyes are drawn here.

This may sound stupid since it's just color, But what's with Mario human characters lacking any eye color for there own character? It's mostly blue like all the time which kind of bothers me and it would've made them stand out more. Even Daisy and Rosalina would of stand out more from Peach too.

The arcade version of Mario Bros. has an oversight whereby one of Mario's and Luigi's walking frames gives them differently colored eyes (middle column in the image). While the difference in the color.
