The other options are very involved. You could have the window removed completely and retile the whole shower. You could also get either a sealed tempered vinyl window or a glass block window, take the walls down to the studs, and retile with a waterproofing membrane that seals perfectly to the new window.
This is probably the best way. We're considering about a sliding window (right to left type) because most awning style windows are out of stock for another 6-8 weeks and I'm curious if anyone has any criticisms (i.e. water getting trapped, mechanisms failing, etc).
Tension rod in the window with a vinyl shower curtain cut to size. Take it off when not in use. Or suction hooks over the window to hold it.
I had a bathroom like that once. I created a curtain out of dark fabric and a shower curtain. I cut the fabric and shower curtain to cover the window the way I wanted.
I put the dark fabric behind the shower curtain and used curtain clips rings to attach it to the current rod. Water pools up in the track of the window (which has caused mold and mildew). We also currently have a double window (storm window), so replacing the window will leave a deep ledge in the side of the shower area.
Will that be a problem? What would you do if this was your home? We bought a house and we wanna do a full renovation in the bathroom and Im wondering if it makes sense to remove the current big window (134x 168 cm) to put a smaller window like 100 x 60 and cover the rest with a wall + tiles. Fortunately, you can add privacy and still maintain brightness with these creative cover-ups, bathroom window treatments, and window replacement ideas.
Install shades or shutters to cover a window. A window in a shower can create problems with water, decay, and mold. Learn why there's a window in the shower and how to fix it.
In that case, I prefer to get a "tempered" glass vinyl window and tile right up to the window. Windows that are not tempered are not code legal in the shower or tub area. Hi, I am converting our hallway bathroom back to a shower and tub combo.
However there is a window in the stall. I am thinking I should replace the old aluminum window with a double sash vinyl one for east ventilation with privacy. I plan to do a tile surround.
Does anyone have suggestions on.
