Formula One, also known as F1, is an international auto-racing sport. F1 is the highest level of single-seat, open-wheel, and open-cockpit professional motor racing contest.
Formula 1® racing began in 1950 and is the world's most prestigious motor racing competition, as well as the world's most popular annual sporting series: The 2023 Formula 1® season will consist of 23 races, the season started with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 5, and finish up in Abu Dhabi on November 26, with the brand new Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Formula One racing is governed and authorized by a world body called the FIA − Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile or the International Automobile Federation. The name ‘Formula’ comes from the set of rules that the participating cars and drivers must follow.
F1 Teams 2023
Formula One consists of 10 teams, also called constructors. Each team has 2 drivers, thus Formula One has a total of 20 drivers. The constructor, who scores the most points in a Formula One World Championship season, is awarded the Formula One World Constructor’s Championship.

F1 2023 Participating Countries
A series of Formula One races are conducted over a period of time, usually over a year called the ‘Formula One World Championship season’. Each race in a season is called a ‘Grand Prix’ or GP, derived from French which means 'great prize'.

How does F1 plays?
F1 Grand Prix Format
A Formula One Grand Prix happens over a weekend for three days on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday different events take place on each of these three days.
- Friday - Free Practice Sessions
- Saturday - Free Practice Session and Qualifying Session
- Sunday - Race Day
Free Practice Sessions
- Every Grand Prix begins with three free practice session. Whereas, two practices are held on Friday, while the last practice takes place on Saturday, with a duration of 90 minutes, one in the morining and the other in the night.
Qualifying Sessions
- Every Grand Prix's second day starts with the third practice session, which takes place on Saturday morning and lasts for one hour. While in the afternoon, the qualifying session is held and this session is used to determine the starting order for the race day on Sunday.The qualifying seesion is divided into three knockout stages - Q1, Q2, and Q3.
- Q1
- For 18 minutes, all 20 cars race on the circuit. The five slowest cars will be eliminated and they will occupy - 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, on the grid.
- Q2
- For 15 minutes, all remaining 16 cars race on the circuit. The five slowest cars will be eliminated and they will occupy - 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, on the grid.
- Q3
- For 12 minutes, all remaining 10 cars race on the circuit and fill the 10 positions on the grid. The fastest driver will occupy the 'pole position', a position on the grid that is in front of the other cars at the start of a race on the race day on Sunday.
Race Day
- The main event of a Grand Prix that is held on a Sunday afternoon.
F1 Racing Points System
From 2010 until to present, the system of Formula One World Championship points scoring has been the same.
In this system, the top 10 drivers at the end of each Grand Prix will receive points based on the positions they finished and these points will contribute to the World Drivers and World Constructors Championships at the end of the season. To receive points, the driver must finish 90% of the distance covered by the winner.
Points Contribution:
1st Place - 25 points
2nd Place - 18 points
3rd Place - 15 points
4th Place - 12 points
5th Place - 10 points
6th Place - 8 points
7th Place - 6 points
8th Place - 4 points
9th Place - 2 points
10th Place - 1 point

Formula 1 became an exciting sport that has grown and gained popularity and loyalty, especially from young people. For some, Formula 1 is just fast cars driving in a loop, but for the fans, it's much more than that. Every weekend race, Formula 1 interacts with thousands of fans. During race days, the passion of the fans to support their teams and the teamwork of the drivers and the conductors is what makes the sport more meaningful and beautiful. In every win, everyone has the "we made it smiles" after the hard work paid off, while in every loss, more strengths are to happen for the next race. Also, the bond and friendship made in Formula 1 Sports for years is one of the sources of happiness for the fans. For every Formula 1 fans, Formula 1 is a special sport that gives entertainment and inspiration.
