This actually kind of bothers me about food. I wish there were a way to make star quality recipes, maybe by taking into account the quality of the ingredients. Not exceptions but things to note: Milk, regardless of its quality, produces a base quality cheese.
Large Milk, which is a different item, produces a gold. Cheese, on the other hand, will get gold quality cheese from any large milk that's silver quality or higher. So you could keep, say, all large milks of silver and gold quality (because you stop getting basic after a certain level and you are only going to get so much milk any given day), and sell iridium quality milk straight.
