I hope the course support is strong throughout the whole race. As much as I love the Cowtown Marathon, it gets awfully lonely when the marathoners and half marathoners split at mile 12 and the course support dies outside of aid stations and the block party at Mile 20. I've ran 20-some half marathons over the years, because I could put minimal training in, get to the end, and move on.

But I had never put in a real training routine to finally run a full 26.2. Since I had a history of running and a high aerobic base from a summer full of cycling, I started Hal Higdon's Novice 2 schedule. On a whim, I decided to run my first half in April (2:24:59) at my hometown half.

After that, I kind of got addicted to running. I continued to run throughout the summer, before deciding to attempt a marathon. I chose the Dallas Marathon for sentimental reasons: Dallas is where I went to undergrad, started my career, and met my husband.

I am regularly passing folks at this point in the race - likely a result of my selection into the wrong corral - which is a confidence booster, but makes it hard for me to find a buddy to try and keep up.
