Bmw E38 Vs E39

Interesting take on the E39 vs E38. So, given an E38 and E39, same year, same engine (M62TU), same fair condition and approximately same mileage, what is the choice? and the price?! E38 vs.

E39 What's the Difference? The E38 and E39 are both models of the BMW 7 Series, with the E38 being produced from 1994 to 2001 and the E39 from 1995 to 2003. The E38 is known for its sleek and elegant design, while the E39 is praised for its sportier and more aggressive look. I have no experience with 7-series cars.

I just know that the e38, with its low slung, sleek limo looks is HOT. When I got my current e39 (540iT), it felt like a huge step up from my e36 3-series. Much more substantial car.

Would an e38 7-series give me that same step-up feel from my e39? Also wondering about reliabilty. Heard that 7's are significantly more of a headache than other BMW's. TIA.

E39 540i 6MT I can score a cheap one or buy a nice one but feel unsatisfied by not getting a comparatibly priced M5. E38 740i sport - I don't mind the idea of a bigger cruiser, but kind of don't want an old slushbox manual. Compare BMW E38 7 Series 728i 1996 vs BMW E39 5 Series 525i 2000190 HP / 193 PS / 142 kW @ 5300 rpm.

Just for reference, the e38 I am talking about is Royal Red Metallic over Sand, the e39 M5 was LeMan's Blue over Caramel, both very sharp eye catching colors. From a maintenance standpoint, both the 98 740iL and the 01 740iL have been $2000 per year cars to own utilizing almost exclusively BMW dealer maintenance. What is the big differences between the 540(e39) en 740(e38)? They seem to be similar to degree?

e38 740i sport vs e39 wagon? I'm looking for a new daily and have been going back and forth between an e39 wagon and an e38 sport. I've had several e39's in the past, but an e38 740i sport is on my list of "cars I'd like to own" so I started searching those too. Hoping to get some opinions, info, takes, whatever between the two.

So before deciding if I settle on e38 740i and do a manual conversion, perhaps a trying e39 540i manual would be very close in feel to the 7. Does anyone have back to back comparisons in ride quality and overall feel between e38 740i non sport vs e39 540i non sport both riding on lets say 16 inch rims?
