Nice post, agreed for BMW 325i E46. Driving any ICE car hard before it warms up isn't wise, but foolish. As long as BMW is maintained and oil, coolant, PS fluid, brake fluid, AT fluid (if applicable) are topped off, driving BMW sometimes between 4k to 6200 RPMs is ok, and FUN! BMWs historically have had a distinct design objective which is 'The Ultimate Driving Machine'.
However, modern (2014ish+) BMWs are less driver-focused but faster. They are generally still more sporty than their Mercedes counterparts and BMW does still make very good engines, but most of the popular products are generally more focused on technology than the driver. This makes them age less.
