Star Wars Unlimited Color Rules

I didn't even realize different color cards were in play in this game, so my question is, do you have to abide by color when making deck for any sort of play? Do we have confirmation how the unique rule will work in the quick start rules? This is written: Unique cards represent specific characters or objects in the Star Wars universe and are indicated by a * before the card's name. Technically in the tournament regulations it does say that if you are going to have artwork sleeves or a playmat, they need to be Star Wars Unlimited or just a solid color.
