When Luke takes off Vader's mask, why was his face so pale? Vader had very pale skin, almost white. If you look at severe burn victims, their faces are usually retain their natural skin color. Vader in Rogue One had his normal color.

Was it because of the Emperor's lightning that charred his skin further? It was pale and white in empire strikes back too, in that scene with the breathing pod. At the end of revenge of the sith, darth vader's face looked like this-all burned and bald and deformed and scarred-just like above in episode 6 return of the jedi, but it wasn't really pale white yet.
