Inkscape Coloring

Inkscape can select other objects that are similar to the object that is currently selected. For example, if you want to select all the blue squares below, first select one of the blue squares, and use Edit⇒Select Same⇒Fill Color from the menu (right-click on the canvas). But in order to get precise, and to enable the same color to be seen on different computers, the general idea of color spaces comes into play.

A color space determines how a tuple of data values (e.g., an RGB triplet. But color does not fill the area completely and edges of the color are jagged. Do I need to convert the image to a vector first and would that correct the problem? What other advice do you have to solve the issue?
