Keep in mind that you can only build one house per property, and each house costs $200. Hotels cost $500 and can only be built on properties with four houses.
Chance and Space Cards
If you land on a Chance or Space card, draw the top card and follow the instructions. Chance cards may award you money, send you to another space, or force you to pay a penalty. If you roll a double on your next turn, you're automatically released from jail. This is a free way to escape, but there's no guarantee you'll roll a double on your next turn. You might have to wait a few turns before you're back in the game.
Using a "Get Out of Jail Free" Card
You can also use a "Get Out of Jail Free" card to escape immediately. These cards can be found in Chance decks or bought at auction. They're a great way to ensure a quick release, but they're not always easy to come by.
