The AES-XTS algorithm is usually\nused for disk encryption.\n\nThe AES-XTS cipher decryption implementation for 64 bit ARM platform will read\npast the end of the ciphertext buffer if the ciphertext size is 4 mod 5 in 16\nbyte blocks, e.g. 144 bytes or 1024 bytes. If the memory after the ciphertext\nbuffer is unmapped, this will trigger a crash which results in a denial of\nservice.\n\nIf an attacker can control the size and location of the ciphertext buffer\nbeing decrypted by an application using AES-XTS on 64 bit ARM, the\napplication is affected. This is fairly unlikely making this issue\na Low severity one.","affected":[{"ranges":[{"type":"GIT","repo":"https://github.com/openssl/openssl","events":[{"introduced":"89cd17a031e022211684eb7eb41190cf1910f9fa"},{"fixed":"de90e54bbe82e5be4fb9608b6f5c308bb837d355"},{"introduced":"a92271e03a8d0dee507b6f1e7f49512568b2c7ad"},{"fixed":"2cf4e90eaaf7402bf038b158dbdacd0a15561fb7"}],"database_specific":{"cpe":"cpe:2.3:a:openssl:openssl:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","extracted_events":[{"introduced":"3.0.0"},{"fixed":"3.0.9"},{"introduced":"3.1.0"},{"fixed":"3.1.1"}],"source":"CPE_RANGE"}}],"versions":["openssl-3.1.0","openssl-3.0.8","openssl-3.0.7","openssl-3.0.6","openssl-3.0.5","openssl-3.0.4","openssl-3.0.3","openssl-3.0.2","openssl-3.0.1","openssl-3.0.0"],"database_specific":{"source":"https://storage.googleapis.com/cve-osv-conversion/osv-output/CVE-2023-1255.json"}}],"references":[{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2023/1xxx/CVE-2023-1255.json"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2023-1255"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20230908-0006/"},{"type":"ADVISORY","url":"https://www.openssl.org/news/secadv/20230419.txt"},{"type":"FIX","url":"https://git.openssl.org/gitweb/?p=openssl.git;a=commitdiff;h=02ac9c9420275868472f33b01def01218742b8bb"},{"type":"FIX","url":"https://git.openssl.org/gitweb/?p=openssl.git;a=commitdiff;h=bc2f61ad70971869b242fc1cb445b98bad50074a"}],"database_specific":{"cna_assigner":"openssl","osv_generated_from":"https://github.com/CVEProject/cvelistV5/tree/main/cves/2023/1xxx/CVE-2023-1255.json","unresolved_ranges":[{"extracted_events":[{"introduced":"3.1.0"},{"fixed":"3.1.1"},{"introduced":"3.0.0"},{"fixed":"3.0.9"}],"source":"AFFECTED_FIELD"}]},"severity":[{"type":"CVSS_V3","score":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H"}]}
