The BMW E30 is the second generation of BMW 3 Series, which was produced from 1982 to 1994 and replaced the E21 3 Series. The model range included 2-door saloon (sometimes referred to as a coupé) and convertible body styles, [4][5] as well as being the first 3 Series to be produced in 4-door saloon and wagon/estate body styles. The BMW 325es was a variant of the E30 3 Series that was introduced for the 1986 model year.

The 325es was created as a sporty variant of the BMW 325e, which was a fuel efficient offering from BMW. Although the engine was the same M20 2.7L inline six as found in the 325e, a sports suspension was fitted, as well as a range of small interior changes denoting the sporting nature of the 325es. In 1986 the 325eS was introduced.

Only available in two-door coupé format, the eS was the sport model.
