We describe three cases of hair loss in a femalepatternhair loss (FPHL) distribution with histologic features oflichenplanopilaris (LPP). All patients had a history of diffuse, gradual hair loss in aChristmastreepatternthat clinically presented as FPHL on gross and dermoscopic examination. Thesepatternscan be categorized into four major groups (Langer lines, dermatomes, Blaschko lines and exogenouspatterns) as well as additionalpatternsthat are associated with one of the major groups (e.g.,'Christmastreepattern', stretch-markpattern).

Lichenplanusis a skin condition described clinically by the 6 Ps (purple, pruritic, planar [flat], polygonal papules and plaques) and histologically as prototypic lichenoid interface dermatitis papular lesions (eg, linearlichenplanus), scales (eg,lichenstriatus), dyskeratosis (eg, linear Darier disease), and vascular components (eg, nevoid telangiectasias) of skin disease. 5-9 As a rule, all skin diseases following Blaschko lines involve mosaicism of cutaneous structures in their pathogenesis.
