Quartz Shower Reddit

In the process of tearing out fiberglass shower. I thought about tile but do I really wanna spend all that time cleaning. Came across quartz shower wall panel.

Anybody got personal experience with it? Easy to maintain? Is it cheap, or how much more expensive than tile? What type of shower tray do you use with quartz walls? Silestone has custom quartz shower trays, but I plan on using Cambria quartz. Planning to reno our master bath which currently has tile with quartz.

What size thickness should I go with. 3/4" or 1/2". The 1/2" or more limited in style.

My contract can install either with 3/4" costing more in labor. Also if I go with 3/4" will the existing stud handle it or does it need to be braced more. The quartz is pretty but it would look better going to the ceiling, having the shower head extend above it is weird.

The wall colors aren't working, you want something that will make the stone pop and be the star of the show. My designer is proposing a quartz shower pan. I understand the arguments "for" the material but I'm concerned about the slipperiness of the material for safety concerns (old people will be using this shower).

Does anyone have experience using quartzite to tile a shower?
