Color absorption can be a challenge when dyeing duck canvas fabric due to its tightly woven construction and natural fibers. If you're working with unprimed duck canvas, you'll notice that the dense weave can make it hard for dye to penetrate deeply. This results in uneven color distribution, leaving some areas lighter than others.
It's 10 ounce cotton duck without any waterproofing, fire-resistant coating, or other treatment. I had planned to use the canvas as a washable cover for my bed. A bedspread, but meant to be sat on during the day, possibly spilling food and drink, etc.
So, it doesn't need to stay perfect looking, but I will wash it regularly. Obviously, Rit dye is used to dye clothes but it's water based. This is an issue because duck canvas (the material) is water resistant.
I've also heard that Rita wears out with washing. I've searched for how to dye this stuff but no search results have to do with dying this particular material.
