Metadata for: Behavioural synchronisation between different groups of dogs and wolves and their owners/handlers: exploring the effect of breed and human interaction Jasmine Heurlin, György Barabás, and Lina SV Roth Data from the three studies are stored in three comma-separated value (CSV) files: study-A.csv, study-B.csv, and study-C.csv. In each file, a single row records observations made on one animal. Detailed description of the columns in each data file follows below. Study A (study-A.csv) Column description ------------------ - id: Numerical ID of the dog. - phase: Whether human was walking or standing still when the measurements in the given row were made. - treatment: Whether the dog was ignored, petted, or played with during the observation. - order: Was the treatment in the row, out of ignore/pet/play, done first (1), second (2), or third (3)? - dogage: Age of the dog, in years. - dogsex: Sex of the dog (female or male). - ownersex: Sex of human owner (female or male). - humanprox to outview: Measured durations of various behaviors, expressed as a fraction of 30 seconds. The behaviors are, in order: human proximity (animal within about one meter of human), same direction (animal's chest pointing in the same direction as human's hip), exploration, eye contact with human, movement, and being out of view. Study B (study-B.csv) Column description ------------------ - id: Numerical ID of the dog (not identical to those in Studies A and C). - phase: Whether human was walking or standing still when the measurements in the given row were made. - group: Breed type of the dog (ancient, hunting, or companion). Study C (study-C.csv) Column description ------------------ - id: Numerical ID of the dog (not identical to those in Studies A and B). - phase: Whether human was walking or standing still when the measurements in the given row were made. - group: Whether the animal in the given row is a dog or a wolf. - animalage: Age of the animal, in years.
