Concealed Carry Permit California Application
Do you now have, or have you ever had, a license to carry a concealed weapon (CCW)? If yes, please enter the issuing agency name, issuing state, CCW license number, and issue date. The application process is several months from when you first apply, until your appointment, background process and final approval/denial stage. Any handgun that the applicant intends to carry and have listed on their CCW license shall meet the below criteria prior to being used during their required firearms training. Concealed Carry Permit Requirements by State. CONTACT your county sheriffs or local police chiefs office to verify the application process and the approved training courses. California calls its CCW permits "Licenses to Carry" or LTCs, for short.
Licenses in most cases are valid up to two years, but the sheriff/chief can set any expiration date up to two years. A psychological exam may be required depending on the agency; there is no medical exam. Due to the detailed nature involved with conducting these background checks, appointment times and processing times can take multiple weeks. During the application process, the applicant will be asked to schedule an interview appointment for a new Carry Concealed Weapon license.
