Salone Del Mobile 2018
As with every April, the design world descended on Milan this week for Salone del Mobile 2018. With an abundance of new talent presenting original ideas, the Salone del Mobile is the design event of the year not to miss. Thousands of designers and buyers descended on Milan last week for Salone del Mobile 2018, which presented all the trends in furniture and lighting.
Kitchen design was highlighted in EuroCucina, the special focus area for this edition. Although in-town installations, away from the main fairground, are routine, an official written manifesto the Salone issued ahead of this years opening lent fresh purpose to citywide participation during Milan Design Week. Once a year, the design world descends on Milan for the Salone Del Mobile, the design industrys annual showcase of product launches, installations, exhibitions and, perhaps most ubiquitously of all, champagne receptions. For those who cant hop to Milan before 2018s Salone is up, dont fear, the estate is open until September 15 to coincide with the Triennale Design Museums retrospective of Osvaldo Borsani curated by Norman Foster and Tommaso Fantoni (the grandson of Borsani). The famous Salone del Mobile (and its worldwide renowned Fuorisalone) went out with a bang and with a record edition: over 430,000 visitors from 188 countries in the world were registered in Milan during the event which ended on April, 22.
