Construction Code Information Welcome to the Construction Code Division The Construction Code Office is responsible for issuing building, plumbing, electrical, fire, and mechanical permits, and inspecting that work for compliance with the NJ adopted construction codes. We do this for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens and summer visitors of Ocean City. Construction code plays a critical role in providing safe and code compliant structures throughout the city. In Ocean City, the mayor exercises executive power over the municipality. The Construction and Building department is responsible for issuing permits for construction and performing necessary inspections. They are also responsible for the tree removal permit process. Building permit applications involving the repair and/or replacement of any shared egress, MUST BE APPROVED by the Fire Marshal's Office PRIOR TO THE START OF ANY DEMO.
