Overall, I love the aesthetic of your decorations too. Something to watch for: I recently just removed the Alex drawers from my set up. I found the height of the cabinet plus the height of the subframe and the thickness of the desktop to put the table top too high for my chair.

I aspire to build my own desk someday too, but the honest truth is that you are unlikley to end up saving money compared to just buying a realtively cheap mass produced piece of furniture unless you are either highly skilled or aim to build something really rough. To make the wall interesting, try a gallery design with some art and pictures you like and maybe a fun neon sign. Whatever collection (binders, organizers, and such) you put on your desk, make sure it all coordinates so it always looks puts together and tidy.
