When is Filmstruck Coming to PS4?
Filmstruck, the curated streaming service for cinema enthusiasts, has been a popular demand among PlayStation 4 (PS4) users. While there's no official release date yet, we've gathered all the available information to keep you updated on the potential arrival of Filmstruck on PS4.
What is Filmstruck?
Filmstruck is a subscription-based streaming service that offers a vast collection of independent, foreign, and classic films. It's a dream come true for cinephiles, providing access to a curated library of over 4,000 films from prestigious studios like The Criterion Collection, Janus Films, and more. The service was launched in 2016 and has since gained a significant following.
Filmstruck's Current Availability
As of now, Filmstruck is available on various platforms, including web browsers, iOS, and Android devices. However, it's not yet available on gaming consoles like the PS4. The service is compatible with Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku devices, but it's still missing from the list of supported gaming consoles.
Why PS4 Users are Asking for Filmstruck
PS4 users are eager to have Filmstruck on their consoles for several reasons. Firstly, the PS4's large screen and high-quality display can provide an immersive cinematic experience. Secondly, the PS4's media player supports a wide range of video formats, ensuring compatibility with Filmstruck's content. Lastly, many PS4 users are already subscribed to other streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, making Filmstruck a welcome addition to their console's library.
Filmstruck's Expansion Plans
Filmstruck has been expanding its reach since its launch. In 2018, it merged with Turner Classic Movies (TCM) to create a new service called The Criterion Channel. While this merger was a significant step for Filmstruck, it didn't immediately lead to an expansion onto gaming consoles. However, it's a positive sign that the service is continually evolving and growing.

There have been rumors and speculations about Filmstruck coming to PS4, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet. Some users have reported seeing Filmstruck listed as a compatible app on their PS4, only for it to disappear later. While these sightings could be signs of an impending release, they should be taken with a grain of salt until an official announcement is made.
