This device, priced affordably, packs a punch with its impressive features and specifications. Let's delve into the comprehensive review of the ZTE Max XL as presented by CNET.
Design and Display
CNET commends the Max XL for its robust and durable design, a refreshing change from the sleek, fragile smartphones that dominate the market. The device sports a 6-inch HD display, providing ample screen real estate for multimedia consumption. The 720p resolution, while not exceptional, is adequate for its price point, offering crisp and clear visuals.
Performance and Battery Life
The Max XL is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM. CNET reports that while the device isn't a powerhouse for heavy multitasking, it handles everyday tasks smoothly. The 3,990mAh battery is a standout feature, providing exceptional battery life that can last up to two days on a single charge, according to CNET's tests.
Camera and Storage
The Max XL features a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. CNET notes that while the camera performance is decent in well-lit conditions, it struggles in low light. The device comes with 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card, providing ample space for apps, games, and media.
Software and Connectivity
The Max XL runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, with ZTE's MiFavor UI on top. CNET praises the clean and intuitive user interface, with minimal bloatware. The device supports 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, and Wi-Fi, ensuring seamless connectivity. It also features a fingerprint scanner on the back, adding an extra layer of security.
Price and Value
Priced at around $100, the ZTE Max XL offers excellent value for money. CNET highlights that while the device has its limitations, such as a lackluster camera and a dated processor, its impressive battery life, robust design, and affordable price point make it an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers.
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, CNET's review of the ZTE Max XL paints a clear picture of a budget smartphone that punches above its weight. While it may not set the world on fire with its specifications, its impressive battery life, robust design, and affordable price point make it a compelling option for those looking for a reliable, no-frills smartphone.
