I received my Car Data report the other day and saw that several charging sessions had charging power of 9.5Kw (40 amps) rather than the 7.5KW (32 amps) as I programmed on the iDrive during charging setup. Hi all, The charging function on my 2023 iX only allows ridiculously broad steps for the current limit when AC charging. For example, the top limit is 48 amps, the next step down is 32 amps. This is pretty beat, because 40 amps is what most people would want to set when using a 50 amp EV.

How is it calculated? Given how expensive BMW is charging for the adapter, you better off just install 50A breaker and wire and use 24A current. Either regulate the current on a wall charger or the car.
As long as you set AC limit in the car, it should not pull more than the limit from the charger. The BMW charger is dumb device, it will do what car tells it to do.
