I've been hunting for a while for an E30 to turn into a stage rally car to meet Rally America rules. Now that I have a car, it's time to start the build and thus time to start the build thread. This week's featured build looks at Jeff Tucker's beautiful 1987 BMW 325is (E30), who freshly took to our 1.6 mile track.

This is a little thread to document the trials and tribulations of making a historic/targa rally car from a rather decrepit 1990 318IS rolling shell. I bought a cheap MG ZR160 at the end of last year with the aim of using it on a broad variety of budget production-car motorsport throughout 2020 (targa rallies, hillclimb/sprinting, autotests, etc). There was something that didn't suit the E30 M3 on the stages and that something was the rear suspension setup.

I have been toying with the idea for a long time to build an lifted/rally/offroad beater e30. I have read tons of threads from epiphy's dirty 30 to caswells baja racer. the rough idea is using e46 control arms up front with gc coilover kit with taller springs and depending on end ride height an upper strut mount spacer.
the rear will be either the rest of the gc coilover kit or e36 rear.
