Batman Year One Original Coloring

Batman:YearOneis an American comic book story arc written by Frank Miller and illustrated by David Mazzucchelli.YearOnewasoriginallypublished by DC Comics inBatman#404-407 monthly issues format in 1987. This is because Richmond Lewis, theoriginalcolorist (and David Mazzucchelli’s wife), did the recoloring herself. Lewis is a painter first, and was brought in to do thecoloringby Mazzucchelli.

In the recoloring, Lewis is able to take advantage of a wider range of colors than were possible with theoriginalprinting process. To date, the only way to enjoy theoriginalcoloringwas to get theoriginalissues (Batman #404-407). Finally, in 2016, DC published an Absolute edition ofBatman: Year One, containing two books;onewith theoriginalcoloringandonewith the recoloring.
